Uses of Oil

In Ayurveda, oil is used as a versatile cure to increase health and well-being of the body. The Brahmi-Amla oil is used to prevent the graying and falling of hair and also to produce a good sleep. Sesamum oil when used rationally in the ears prevents deafness, removes ear-diseases, stiffness in throat to name a few. Oil when rubbed in the feet besides soothing action and relaxation to nerves, helps to remove roughness, dryness, numbness of feet, fissures of the feet and even helps erases sciatic pain. Body massage with gingilly oil or 'Narayan tailam' helps to remove 'Kapha' and excess fat and makes the limbs strong. Thus careful and wise use of the humble natural cold-pressed oils produce benefits unseen of. It is great to make use of this natural commodity regularly and experience the benefits.

                                                     The basics of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a science and it has certain basic ethics. According to great physician 'Charaka', the fruits of extremely wicked deeds cannot be checked by the normal efforts of good conduct but the fruits of ordinary actions can be checked by good conduct, the administration of proper medicines and such like. The physician further says, although all actions will give fruit but if you take due care, you may still be able to keep good health.Except for very strong karmas, the effects of karma can be combated by good conduct, efforts and observance of the ordinary daily duties of life.
He suggests that proper means of keeping mind in the virtuous path consists in avoiding too much thinking, in not thinking of revloting objects and keeping the mind busy or active. The sage physician describes 'Atma Hita' or 'Self-good' as that which begets pleasure, comfort, peace of mind and longevity. Right conduct or a good karma leads to well-being of body and mind, and secures sense-control or balance of 'Indriyas'.
