Uses of Oil

In Ayurveda, oil is used as a versatile cure to increase health and well-being of the body. The Brahmi-Amla oil is used to prevent the graying and falling of hair and also to produce a good sleep. Sesamum oil when used rationally in the ears prevents deafness, removes ear-diseases, stiffness in throat to name a few. Oil when rubbed in the feet besides soothing action and relaxation to nerves, helps to remove roughness, dryness, numbness of feet, fissures of the feet and even helps erases sciatic pain. Body massage with gingilly oil or 'Narayan tailam' helps to remove 'Kapha' and excess fat and makes the limbs strong. Thus careful and wise use of the humble natural cold-pressed oils produce benefits unseen of. It is great to make use of this natural commodity regularly and experience the benefits.

                                                     The basics of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a science and it has certain basic ethics. According to great physician 'Charaka', the fruits of extremely wicked deeds cannot be checked by the normal efforts of good conduct but the fruits of ordinary actions can be checked by good conduct, the administration of proper medicines and such like. The physician further says, although all actions will give fruit but if you take due care, you may still be able to keep good health.Except for very strong karmas, the effects of karma can be combated by good conduct, efforts and observance of the ordinary daily duties of life.
He suggests that proper means of keeping mind in the virtuous path consists in avoiding too much thinking, in not thinking of revloting objects and keeping the mind busy or active. The sage physician describes 'Atma Hita' or 'Self-good' as that which begets pleasure, comfort, peace of mind and longevity. Right conduct or a good karma leads to well-being of body and mind, and secures sense-control or balance of 'Indriyas'.

Hi everyone!
Life, you all know, is the most precious gift of god. To experience all emotions, all goods and bads, laughters and tears, successes and failures that give our intellect the ultimate understanding, wisdom, all experiences are begotten through 'life'. So, a sensible mind knows how important it is to keep the fabric of life in neat position. This blog is all about this. I have experienced that real wealth of life lies in our cultural heritage and ancient wisdom of our ancestors, that we should pay heed to and carry it on forward. Today's modern world is getting filled up with all that is actually detrimental to life and its status, meaning thereby, the quality of life. This is a heartfelt attempt on my part to share with one and all that knowledge which is life-propeller, propagator and an attempt to see nectar of divine life flowing in all directions.
Now I share certain rules underlined by our most famous 'Ayurvedacharyas' reminding us how important it is to take care of our body which is actually a temple of divinity.
" Even at risk of giving up everything else, you should protect your body: for if your body does not exist everything that exists is non-existent to you."
"For protection of health and life, wake up at 'Brahmamuhurta' i.e. at about 45 minutes before sunrise."
"Morning and evening, teeth must be cleaned without hurting the gum with an astringent, pungent or a bitter twig which is chewed at one end in to a tuft (datun)."
"The tongue should be scraped with a silver or gold scraper or a fine soft twig longitudinally and about 10 inches long."
"The one who cleanses the mouth with sesame oil (til taila) will be free of toothache."
"The mouth should be cleaned by gargling with cold water four, eight, twelve or sixteen times after urination, defecation, eating or brushing the teeth respectively."

These are some general rules which are subtly but simply bestowing great health but one must leave laziness and work on them religiously to incur all the benefits they promise. Later on I would love to elaborate on the scientific mechanism with which they work and also the immense benefits the simple regimen gives. Thanks to our great naturopaths that we can enjoy great health!
